Bartın University (BARÜ) took its place among the world's best higher education institutions in the UI GreenMetric (Green Metric) ranking, which evaluates 1,477 universities from 95 countries in terms of environment and sustainability.
The UI GreenMetric World Green Universities Ranking 2024, a platform that globally evaluates the sustainability practices of prestigious universities from all over the world and aims to create awareness about environmental consciousness, has been announced. Bartın University (BARÜ) succeeded in ranking 183rd among 1,477 world universities this year. BARÜ, which increased its total score to 8,110 points compared to last year, was ranked 14th among universities in Türkiye.
BARÜ on the list of the greenest universities of 2024
BARÜ was shown to be 394th among 619 universities worldwide when it first entered the list in 2017; the innovative works implemented ensured a sustainable improvement in the ranking every year. BARÜ, which was evaluated by GreenMetric in different areas such as infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, and water resources, ranked 14th among the 120 higher education institutions from Türkiye included in the ranking this year, and 10th among state universities.
BARÜ adds value to the future with a sustainable improvement
Despite the increase in the number of higher education institutions included in the ranking worldwide and in Türkiye, BARÜ continues to succeed in being among the greenest universities. This success has been registered in the international arena with the work carried out at BARÜ, which shows sustainable development, such as the university producing its own clean energy, ensuring the recycling of waste, reducing its carbon footprint, and pioneering the creation of an ecological system.
