3R Strategy

Our 3R (Reduce & Reuse & Recycle) Strategy

Bartın University has implemented many important initiatives focused on reduction, reuse, and recycling within the scope of its waste management strategy. One of the most important of these efforts is the Electronic Document Management System (EBYS), which is one of the university's most valuable tools for waste reduction. Thanks to this system, the use of paper, printer toner, and printers has been greatly reduced, and sustainability is promoted through digital processes.

In addition to EBYS, the university has taken various measures to reduce the use of paper, plastic, and other materials. The Smart Logistics Management System (ALYS), established within the university, ensures that damaged or unused materials such as computers, desks, and printers are renovated and reused. This limits new purchases, increasing the contribution to sustainability.

Furthermore, Bartın University prohibits the use of plastic cups in official correspondence to limit plastic use and encourages the use of glass cups. Single-sided printed papers are reused, ensuring maximum benefit before disposal. These steps demonstrate the university's commitment to waste reduction in every area.

Bartın University implements the Single-Stream Recycling system in cooperation with Safran Recycling. This system is compatible with the national Zero Waste Project (Sıfır Atık Projesi) and allows students and staff to easily separate and recycle paper, plastic, glass, metal, organic waste, and non-recyclable materials. The progress of the university in this matter is constantly monitored and tracked with monthly and annual reports of the collected waste.

Bartın University provides regular training to its students and staff to increase awareness within the scope of the Zero Waste Project. These informative presentations are renewed every 6 months. The University also collects used batteries, waste cooking oils, and hazardous wastes and disposes of them properly in collaboration with specialized companies.

Bartın University has been entitled to receive the Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate, which proves its success in waste management. The work carried out within the scope of the Zero Waste Project has also been examined and appreciated by the Turkish Environment Agency affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
