An event on "Climate Change and Forests" was organized by the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design as part of World Climate Day events. In addition to our University's Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yafes YILDIZ, faculty members and students attended the event.

The opening speech of the event was delivered by the Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Handan UCUN ÖZEL. In her speech, Prof. Dr. UCUN ÖZEL stated, “Climate change is a global problem with economic, social, and societal dimensions, not just environmental ones. In this context, we attach great importance to the fact that this event contributes to strengthening environmental awareness among our students and all participants.”

Within the scope of the program, a presentation titled "Climate Change and Forests" was given by Prof. Dr. Halil Barış ÖZEL, a faculty member of the Department of Forest Engineering at the Faculty of Forestry. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. ÖZEL addressed the changes caused by climate change on forest ecosystems within the framework of scientific data and current approaches. He drew attention to the effects of global temperature rise, irregularities in precipitation regimes, drought, forest fires, the spread of harmful organisms, and the degradation of ecosystem balance on forests.
